Today’s post is a shameless plug for an organization where I serve on the board. I believe it to be a great organization, and I take some pride in my involvement. We are the Legislative Evaluation Assembly of Minnesota or LEA.
The LEA lives by a credo that is non-partisan and strictly separated from any lobbying. By policy, we take no positions on any legislation prior to passage. Our goal is not to advance a particular political agenda, but to evaluate legislation and legislators, based on our credo, which we believe to be true to the wisdom and foundational principles of our founders.
This often makes for some lively discussions in board meetings. I sometimes think that we apply more serious scrutiny to the legislation that we evaluate than the legislators do.
Our reports can be found here.
Our annual banquet is coming up on March 3rd, and is open to the public as long as you register in advance. This is where we honor those in the legislature who scored the highest in our most recent report.
We all stand on the shoulders of giants. The LEAhas been operating on a shoestring budget, and doing excellent work for over 40 years. I am but a bit player, and honored to have a role.
