Charles Krauthammer has once again written an excellent and insightful commentary. I was particularly struck by the quote from Benjamin Netanyahu:
“Here’s the difference between us,…We’re using missile defense to protect our civilians, and they’re using their civilians to protect their missiles.”
This is the truth, and the moral clarity that Krauthammer cites is inescapable. I would like the American leadership reflect that clarity in our foreign policy. Our support of governments that deliberately put their own people at risk for propaganda purposes should not have our support. We cannot bring about peace, but we can at least speak with moral clarity, and stop pretending moral equivalence where there is none.
